Last shooting of this year took place yesterday. It was planned for quite a long time. We started early in the morning meeting up with Alin Morar who came from out of town. After some breakfast and coffee (yes it was too early :P) we headed for the studio where we took some shots (soon to be processed).
After that Location – Location – Location !!! Of course, shooting at the end of December in a not so snowy weather implies alot of mud and cold. :)

We had scheduled a portfolio shooting with Marius, an aspiring model who lives in the US and was on vacation here in Romania. We started in the studio getting the shots for his book with different looks from business to casual. After we got in the groove and managed to get the desired shots we got out of the studio only to see that it was heavily snowing. We didn’t back up as we saw an opportunity in testing the new Dynaphos RD-400 kit won at the Inspired Contest. The kit is lightweight, very portable and its power is very good. Since we don’t have any modifiers Bowens compatible we just used a small umbrella which also served the purpose of keeping Beni dried :)

New camera arrived before Christmas. A very nice present I got for myself this year. It’s my first full frame camera and all I can say is that it’s amazing.

Last night we (me and my “wingman” Beni) attended “Gala Inspired” at The Silver Church in Bucharest where the winners for the Inspired Fashion Photography Contest 2009 were announced. I got 2nd place and some nice prizes including 2 exhibitions that will be held in Bucharest the following year.
Thanks to Beni, Vladutz and Cristina (the models) for making these images possible. Hopefully next year we’ll be better ;)

On the day of the shoot, it was muddy because of the rain. Luckily we had some snow chains in the trunk and managed to drive up the slippery hill.

Many people asked me how these images were done (most thinking that they were masked and blended in photoshop – which was not the case). As you can see in the footage, Fica is standing on a chair in lake Tarnita, near Cluj-Napoca. Due to the perspective and the reflection of the sky she seems to be floating on water.

At some point a boat entered the frame :)

This was a quick shoot we had in Faget forrest near Cluj-Napoca with Adela, a model who I shot a couple of years ago – we’ve had some great help and advise from Isabella – http://lachatterie.blogspot.com who did the make-up and styling – this is the outcome:
